This is the scene in my novel St. Anne's Day where we first meet Gerry's current girlfriend, Claudia, whom his elderly mother, Peg, dislikes.
“Damn it,” Peg whispered to Anne.
“That’s Claudia.”
A willowy woman appeared in the doorway with Gerry. “Mrs. McMaster,” she gushed, holding out her
arms as if to sweep Peg up into an embrace, “it’s so good to see you well. I brought you a little—”
“Shhh,” Peg hissed, holding her finger to her lips as Drew
Carey reappeared on the screen. “It’s
the Showcase Showdown.”
